Terry Bison Ranch: real-world long-range connectivity

At Terry Bison Ranch in Wyoming, Ascent designed and deployed a long-range point-to-point wireless solution capable of carrying more than 1 Gbps between locations on the property. The link supports internet connectivity, the business phone system and guest Wi-Fi.

That project is a good example of how we approach a large rural property: start with what has to work, account for distance and site conditions, and build the network path needed to carry those services reliably.

Starlink is an internet source—not the whole property network

When Starlink or another rural provider is the right upstream connection, Ascent can integrate it into a professionally managed network and extend that connectivity to the buildings, systems and users that actually need it. The upstream provider and the property network are separate design problems, and we plan both accordingly.

Connect buildings without trenching everywhere

Where fiber construction is impractical or unnecessarily expensive, properly engineered wireless links can carry high-speed connectivity between structures. We evaluate distance, line of sight, terrain, obstructions, bandwidth requirements, mounting, power, weather exposure and future expansion before selecting equipment.

One network can support very different users

Ranches and remote properties often mix business systems, owners and staff, guests, cameras, phones, gates and connected devices. We segment those systems so they remain secure and predictable while still allowing the things that need to communicate to do so.

The property may be remote. Support does not have to be.
